ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Electrical Engineer needed for a long term contract position with a potential to become a full time position. Starting pay range is $80,000 to $100,000 (depending on education, experience and training). This is a great opportunity to join one of the top manufacturing companies in the Greeneville, TN area.

Job Description:

Provide electrical engineering services to integrate mechanical systems, electrical distribution systems, electronic controls, and computer science to design and create new production and manufacturing equipment and processes for the facility and its customers. Primary focus is to specify, design, and manage the installation of capital projects to improve plant processes for increased productivity and reduced operating costs. Secondary focus is to provide technical support to operations/facility for repair, modification, and upgrades of existing equipment, processes, infrastructure, and building and grounds.

Responsibilities

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

25%     Research, specifies, and designs new or improved processes and equipment. Provides cost estimates, equipment layouts, design prints, and time schedules for the installation of new processes, machines, and equipment. Create and implement PLC programs (specifically Control Logix System), HMIs, microcontrollers, servo drives, and vision systems. Research, select, and apply sensors, communication technologies, or control devices for motion control, position sensing, pressure sensing, or electronic communication. Create electrical drawings using CAD software. Represents engineering on cross-functional teams.

25%     Works with production supervision and personnel to ensure compliance with electrical safety codes and regulations. Works with production personnel to maintain machine performance to ensure quality output.

25%     Works with electronic technicians to correct machine and other electrical equipment problems; Works with electronics technicians to update electrical equipment, controls, and instrumentation to reduce downtime and improve productivity.

 15%     Plan, schedule, and procure outside contractors/vendors to maintain facility 4160-volt, 480-volt, and 120-volt electrical distribution systems and Fire Protection and Security Systems.

 10%     Works with personnel to improve plant processes by providing technical direction and by specifying and designing piping and instrumentation diagrams.

Additional Functions:

·      Provides technical direction to electricians in maintaining plant electrical equipment and instrumentation;

·      Secures outside electricians to assist in project work and maintenance of plant electrical distribution system;

·      Assists maintenance by transferring project engineering information for newly installed equipment;

·      Assists with the technical evaluations of electrical machinery and devices following catastrophic failure;

Requirements

Knowledge/Experience/Skills

Knowledge

·      Bachelor Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

·      Four to six years’ experience with large DC drive systems, electrical distribution systems, and process control theory in a metalworking manufacturing environment.

·      Prior success applying machine control equipment, process control instrumentation and associated software.

·      Familiarity with computers and CAD software.

·      Familiarity with AC drives.

·      Familiarity with National Electrical Code.

·      Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
