About The Position

This position performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems. Besides a thorough technical knowledge about electric power systems, field instrumentation, local and distributed control systems, it is also valuable to have a basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes. The main objective of this position is to provide engineering and technical services to operations and service units in order to assure safe operations, regulatory compliance and to maximize the availability and efficiency of these units.

Responsibilities

  • Support and closely cooperate with fellow Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) Engineering counterparts in assuring safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance of production units. Support availability of production units as required capacity and quality 
  • Consult and support capital projects executed by project engineering. Participate in commissioning of new and modified production units. Participate in planning and execution of system or unit turnarounds
  • Support maintenance team in planning and execution of ITPM and MRO activities. Maintain asset data in enterprise asset management and plant engineering system(s). Keep documentation and equipment records up to date
  • Become an expert capable of exercising EI&C engineering judgment with respect to the process areas of responsibility and assigned subject matters. Develop and/or support development of specifications and standards. Supervise third party providers for engineering and maintenance services
  • Plan and execute small size investment projects. Conduct and/ or coordinate de-bottlenecking and troubleshooting activities. Support process and technology transfer and exchange between production sites
  • Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, and cost
  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering and Maintenance department, within Operations and within other service units, with focus on achieving optimal results and solutions from a corporate enterprise perspective
  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with Wacker's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation, Automation or Controls Engineering) or Chemical Engineering degree with strong controls and 480V experience or equivalent/related education
  • 4+ years in chemical and/or oil/gas industries (or similar industrial experience)
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a preferred plus, but not required: Emerson delta V, SAP EAM, Functional Safety, Comos
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong multitasking competency

  • Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
  • Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure. Team player attitude. Basic understanding of chemical and physical processes
  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, instrumentation, and controls (EI&C) including relevant regulations, standards and codes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operation/maintenance of 480V equipment, such as motors and motor control centers (MCCs)
