EI&C Engineer III/Senior
About The Position
This position performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems. Basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes along with technical knowledge of electric power systems, field instrumentation, and local/distributed control systems are needed to execute the responsibilities of this position. The main objective of this position is to provide engineering and technical services to operations and service units in order to assure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and maximize the availability and efficiency of said units.
Responsibilities
- This position performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems
- The main objective of this position is to provide engineering and technical services to operations and service units in order to assure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and maximize the availability and efficiency of said units
- Partner with operations to ensure availability of production units as required regarding capacity and quality
- Commission as part of a team new and modified production units
- Plan and execute as part of a team system or unit turnarounds
- Plan and execute small size investment projects
- Conduct and/or coordinate de-bottlenecking and troubleshooting activities in operation processes
- Collaborate with fellow Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) Engineering counterparts in assuring safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance of production units
- Consult and support capital projects executed by project engineering
- Support process and technology transfer and exchange between Wacker's polysilicon production sites
- Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality and cost
- Support maintenance team in planning and execution of ITPM and MRO activities
- Maintain asset data in enterprise asset management and plant engineering system(s)
- Exercise EI&C engineering judgment with respect to the process areas of responsibility and assigned subject matters
- Develop and/or support development of specifications and standards
- Represent Wacker's interests toward suppliers and contractors
- Keep documentation and equipment records up to date
- Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering and Maintenance department, within Operations and within other service units, with focus on achieving optimal results and solutions from a corporate enterprise perspective
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation or Controls Engineering OR Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required
- 7+ years in chemical and/or oil/gas industries (or similar industrial experience)
- Technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, instrumentation, and controls (EI&C) including relevant regulations, standards and codes
- Basic knowledge of operation/maintenance of 480V equipment, such as motors and motor control centers (MCCs)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Objective judgment and fact-based decision-making approach
- Interpret, edit, and create P&IDs, loop drawings
- Design SIL and non-SIL instrumentation control loops
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
- Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
- Strong multitasking competency

- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time as required
